I think racism is bad becasuse every one person have right to live in other country. I had once a problem with scotish people because they were swearing at me because I've done something wrong and I didn't know what.

Where we come from racism does not exist from the way we were brought up. We discovered it in the most horrific way possible: we did not know any english so people used that against us for example discriminating, insulting and degrading us. it starts with the parents as role models to their children, their children then follow by example. we experience this everyday when we see enfants watching their parents spitting, shouting and cursing at us. feeling that this is normal behaviour, which continues teh racist circle.

we do believe racism is a two way system, reguess and aslyum seekers join forces when they feel threatened and that builds a wall between both social groups. this should not happen in this century where all humans should have equal rights.

I came across two racist incidents in Glasgow in the last three years. Once I went to visit a friend and as I did not know how the lift system works I press for the wrong lift to come down to the ground floorThe lady who came out of the lift was so angry that, she suddenly started to swear and insulted my mum and I and she even tried to heat me with a receiver, but luckily we just run out. But the police did try their best to help us and they also carried on an investigation but unfortunately they did not know the identity of the lady.

Lately I was walking in town with a friend then a man just spat on us, we where really offended by the act; as I didn’t believe anybody would ever spit on someone else just because they are from a different ethnic origin or have a different skin colour.

When i first came to this country i was very happy but as i went out of my house I started realising that im not one of people over here. i never had experienced racisim before but when i came to scotland. i experienced it in places like school, the place i lived and most of the places i went. It was like a nightmare to me as most people treated me as an unwelcomed guest to Glasgow or Scotland. People used to call me names from the place i came from and abuse me and used to make fun of me while i used to stand there listening to them and trying to be friends with them. They used to make fun of my accent and everything i do. I felt like i should go back to Pakistan and used to go to my parents and ask them to go back, but they used to explain and give me courage that everything would be fine, and used to remind of the problems and threats we had back in there. Then i started to hope that everything will be fine and be normal. Then as the time passed i met new people who were refugess as well and we became good friends with them. And as Things are never the same i have been in Uk since 2 years and i have good friends. And i am very happy Now.
Thanks God that he bring me here and now im leading a good life !

when i first came to this country i had a good feeling but then everything wanished. I started school where i was racially abused because of the way i looked. But i always got help from the teachers, who looked after me and helped me integrate with the mainstream pupils. when one problem finished another one started and this was where i lived. the people didnt want us there so they insulted us and started fights

When i first came to this country i didn't go out alot but after a little while i startted playing football with other boys on the kingsway football and thats when i experienced some racism because people get frustrated when they are playing football. I also experienced some racism in my school as well but it wasn't directed towards me. When i started scholl there used be fights between asylum seekers and the mainstream people because thefound it hard to become integrated into the community but now there has not been a fight for almost two years because every one gets along with everyone else.
I think no one is racist they just need to be educated and told about the difficulties that asylum seekers face before they migrate to this or another country. I am very thankful to be here and love every minute of beeing in a great country such as Scotland.

i have experienced racism, where i live and also at school. i have been made to feel unwelcome in glasgow many times which was very unpleseant. The people who were making fun of me used to have fun but not me, i felt hurt and helpless. i came to Scotland running away from the dangers of my own country and when i reach to safety it wasn't very pleasant, because of those who were ignorant. Because of where i came from i have been called many names but there wasn't anything i could do about it, on top of that i didn't speak english this all happened in school. It was even worse where i stayed this was the place where i got things thrown at me, got chased and got told to go back to my country. which hurt me alot .
